The Lake Lure Music Festival dates are set for Summer 2022!
June 17th - A Night on Broadway, featuring Broadway Star, Laura Woyasz
June 18th - An Evening of Mozart+, featuring World Renowned Musicians, Yoonshin Song, 1st Violin, Mark Nuccio, Clarinet , Oleg Sulyga, 2nd Violin, Joan DerHovsepian, Viola, Suren Bagratuni, Cello.
TWO NIGHTS of Extraordinary Music in beautiful Lake Lure, NC! One night on the beautiful shores of Lake Lure at Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure Pavilion and the other in Lake Lure Classical Academy’s (LLCA) welcoming Raptor Center.

In addition to producing great music and bringing renowned musicians to the area, it is also our mission to support organizations performing vital work in our community.
In 2022, the festival will make a generous donation to the Lake Lure Community Education Foundation in support of the LLCA as well as the Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach. Their essential work is making a difference to so many lives in our area. We encourage you to support their mission.

Mark Nuccio, Clarinetist
Critics have praised clarinetist Mark Nuccio for his solo, orchestral, and chamber appearances, describing him as “the evening’s highlight”, full of “mystery and insight” and “shaping his phrases beautifully with a rich, expressive tone.” (NY Times)
Yoonshin Song, 1st Violin
Acclaimed as “a wonderfully talented violinist…whose sound and technique go well beyond her years”, violinist Yoonshin Song was born in South Korea, where she began her musical studies at age 5. Making her solo debut with the Seoul Philharmonic at age 11, she has since built a successful performing career internationally. Yoonshin was appointed as Concertmaster of the Houston Symphony in August 2019. Prior to that she has held the same position with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for seven seasons. Yoonshin has also served as guest concertmaster of the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer. READ MORE
Oleg Sulyga, 2nd Violin
Native of Moscow, Russia with Ukrainian roots; Oleg Sulyga began his music education in Moscow Central Music School; later continuing it at SMU in Dallas; Paris, France; and the University of Houston under guidance of professor Emanuel Borok. Mr. Sulyga was a member of world-renowned ensemble “The Moscow Virtuosi” led by Vladimir Spivakov; with which he traveled extensively and performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls.As a chamber musician he performed with the principals of the Wiener Philharmoniker and The Kopelman Quartet. As orchestral musician he has performed with the Chicago Symphony, the National Symphony, and the Houston Symphony orchestras. READ MORE
Joan DerHovsepian, Viola
Joan DerHovsepian holds the position of Acting Principal Viola of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. She joined the viola section of the Houston Symphony in 1999, hired by Christoph Eschenbach, and began serving as Associate Principal in the fall of 2010. Ms. DerHovsepian was Principal Viola of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra for two seasons and played in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She has appeared as guest principal viola with the Cincinnati Symphony. READ MORE
Suren Bagratuni, Cello
Winner of the silver medal at the 1986 International Tchaikovsky Competition while still a student at the Moscow Conservatory, Bagratuni has gone on to a distinguished international career as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. In addition to performing throughout the former Soviet Union, he has toured worldwide, earning enthusiastic praise in both traditional and contemporary repertoire.
